Gotu kola: member of the parsley family


Gotu kola is a member of the parsley family and has no taste or smell. It grows in a line with underground roots and round leaves that can sometimes look like a spade. The leaves have serrations and are attached to the stem of the leaf. 
In Southeast Asia, gotu kola is consumed as a juice, tea, or supplement. It is a valued traditional medicine and is known as the "herb of longevity". Alternative medicine practitioners use gotu kola for its anti-inflammatory benefits and to promote overall mental health.
